The Department of Education and Human Sciences at Unimore is organising the study seminar "Embodied Education and Inclusion" at Palazzo Baroni in Reggio Emilia on Friday, 4 April, from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The event is part of the national seminar series Embodied Education (EE) Embodiment and the Educating Community: Literature, Development, and Perspectives. Embodied Education is an educational approach that integrates mind and body, emphasising the interaction between movement and cognition.
The seminar is aimed at education professionals, teachers, school leaders, representatives of the Regional School Offices, students specialising in support teaching, as well as university lecturers and students.
In the morning, following the institutional greetings from representatives of the Department and the Regional School Office for Emilia-Romagna, the speakers will include: Professor Filippo Gomez Paloma (University of Cassino and Southern Lazio) as the Keynote Speaker, Professor Paola Damiani (DESU Unimore), Benedetta Melloni from the Fondazione Reggio Children, Michele Campanini and Iride Sassi from Officina Educativa
This will be followed by a roundtable discussion on "New Forms and Challenges" in inclusion, featuring insights from leading members of the Italian Scientific Society for Special Education Pedagogy (SIPeS).
In the afternoon, several schools will present their experiences, including a long-term experimental project from a school founded on the scientific principles of Embodied Cognition. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to take part in parallel workshop sessions, where they can experience embodied-based teaching activities first-hand.
