At the Department of Economics: Seminar on "The Economic and Legal Relevance of Cybersecurity in the Data-Driven Economy"

As part of the Digital Economy Law course – Jean Monnet Module, the "Marco Biagi" Department of Economics at Unimore is organising a seminar on The Economic and Legal Relevance of Cybersecurity in the Data-Driven Economy on Thursday, 3 April, from 2:00 PM (Room 2).

The event, led by Avv. Costanza Matteuzzi, Legal Director of the Women4Cyber Foundation, will provide an opportunity for discussion on the critical role of cybersecurity in today’s fully data-driven economy, where reliance on data for strategic decision-making and business operations is becoming increasingly essential. The seminar will be opened with an official welcome from Prof. Tindara Addabbo, Rector’s Delegate for Equal Opportunities.

The centrality of data, combined with the adoption of new technologies, raises numerous legal and business management challenges,” says Prof. Simone Scagliarini, Professor of Constitutional and Public Law at DEMB and Scientific Coordinator of the ECODIGITAL project, co-funded by the European Union. “This is particularly true in relation to data security risks, as data is a fundamental asset for businesses. This highlights the necessity of investing in a true culture of cybersecurity, ensuring—primarily through compliance with the regulations put forward by the European Union—the security, integrity, and reliability of networks.”

The seminar will also encourage reflection on the participation of women in the field of cybersecurity—an issue that Women4Cyber, an association established in 2019 within ECSO – European Cyber Security Organisation, is committed to promoting, encouraging, and supporting.

Avv. Costanza Matteuzzi, a criminal lawyer at the Florence Bar Association, is an expert in Cyber Law, cybercrime, privacy, and data protection, focusing on the intersection of law and emerging technologies. She is a member of several organisations, including Tsurugi Linux, DFIR open source, FBA Lab (Forensic Behaviour Analysis), Blockchain Elite, and Area Legale. She was selected by the Internet Governance Forum (under the UN's auspices) as an organiser, promoter, and speaker at the event “Cybersecurity, Blockchain and Protection of SMEs”.

The event is open to the public upon prior registration at the following link: https://forms.gle/wAngRsmuu2gBi4P48. The Bar Association and the Association of Chartered Accountants and Auditors will grant CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits to attendees.
