PHD Innovation Challenge: an event dedicated to PhD students on 27 February

At the Marco Biagi Department of Economics of Unimore, the 2025 edition of the PhD Innovation Challenge @UniMoRe, the event starring the PhD students of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, will be held on Thursday 27 February from 2.30 to 6.30 p.m. in lecture halls 3 and 5 (first floor).
This event aims to bring PhD students closer to approaches and visions that go beyond the purely academic approach, both with regard to the valorisation of research and their future profession. The PhD Innovation Challenge is conceived and organised in cooperation with ART-ER as part of Research-ER, the programme for career and employability support for PhD students and researchers involving all regional universities.
The event will open with an inspirational speech by Fabio Ferrari, founder in 2013 of the company Ammagamma that develops Artificial Intelligence solutions, on the valorisation of the researcher's know-how in civil society. Following this, the speaker will involve the participants in an interactive activity aimed at solving current innovation challenges and acquiring transversal skills useful for the valorisation of their research and their role also outside the academic context. The event will conclude with a final plenary return of the outcomes developed by the working groups.
Since 2016, Ammagamma has also been involved in educational activities, in companies and schools, with the aim of forming critical thinking about artificial intelligence. Since 2024, the company has been part of Accenture with the aim of creating a Centre of Excellence in AI and GenAI.
