UNIgreen: a delegation from the Haute Ecole of Liège visiting Unimore

A delegation of seventy students and four lecturers from the Biochemistry and Engineering degree programmes of the Haute Ecole de la Province de Liège (HEPL) visited the Enzo Ferrari Department of Engineering and the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences on 14 November.

The visit programme included a welcome at both departments, a presentation of the education activities, a visit to the departmental facilities and some laboratories, with a focus on the research activities of the degree programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering at DIEF and Chemistry at CHIMGEO.

At the Enzo Ferrari Department, the delegation, led by Prof. Thibaut Lamoureux, Coordinator of HEPL's degree programme in Industrial Engineering Bioproduction and Green Chemistry, was received by the Department Director Prof. Francesco Leali and by Prof. Isabella Lancellotti, the department's referent for internationalisation, and at the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences the delegation was welcomed by Prof. Gianantonio Battistuzzi and Prof. Gianluca Malagoli, President of the Chemistry degree programme.

The visit took place as part of the European Alliance UNIgreen, of which both Unimore and HEPL are members.

UNIgreen is a European university alliance supported by the Erasmus+ programme, bringing together eight higher education institutions, specialising in sustainable agriculture, green biotechnology and environmental and life sciences.

One of the objectives of the Alliance is to offer multiple dedicated mobility paths among the various locations, managed with common administrative and support procedures, which will allow students, teaching, administrative and research staff to benefit from customised academic exchange opportunities in physical, virtual or blended mode, in the long and short term.

This visit was a special occasion, which we hope will be followed by many more,’ said Prof. Alessandro Capra, Rector's Delegate for Internationalisation and UNIgreen Coordinator for Unimore, ‘ to introduce our University and our didactic and research offer to the partners of the UNigreen Alliance. It was also an important opportunity for exchange on the themes of sustainability and green technologies, themes that are specific to UNIgreen, whose aims include facilitating the exchange of knowledge through a more inclusive and accessible student and staff mobility, which is an integral part of the training and work curriculum, as recommended by the European Commission in their vision for the European Higher Education Area’.
