Dialogue on the legal field of behavioural regulation at the Department of Law

The series of seminars ‘Methodologies, social changes and legal professions: new challenges for argumentation’, organised as part of the Fundamentals of normative argumentation programme (Prof. Gianfrancesco Zanetti), continues on Friday 15 November, at 12 noon, with a seminar lecture by Prof. Silvia Vida of Unibo (Ravenna campus), who will discuss behavioural regulation in the legal sphere.

The meeting is organised in partnership with the Interdepartmental Centre on Discrimination and Vulnerability - CRID Unimore, directed by Prof. Thomas Casadei.

In this fourth appointment,’ says Prof. Zanetti, ’we will address one of the theories that is most influencing the discussion on legal regulation. The seminar will provide a valuable opportunity for students of the Fundamentals of Regulatory Argumentation programme to observe how recent economic and psychosocial theories are changing decision-making processes, and therefore also the legal professions, as well as the orientation of some crucial aspects of regulatory argumentation'.

The meeting will be based on some recent publications by Prof. Silvia Vida, in particular: Nudging and the contradictions of libertarian paternalism; Law and behavioural economics, Architecture of nudging choices, in Legal design: theory, models, practice; Probation. A critique of libertarian paternalism.
