Europace Scientific Journal, Edited by Unimore's Prof. Giuseppe Boriani, Ranks First Worldwide for Impact Factor in Arrhythmology and Electrophysiology

At the helm of the journal is Professor Giuseppe Boriani, an academic at Unimore and Director of Cardiology at the Policlinico of Modena, who was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Europace in 2025 following a highly competitive international selection process. The new Impact Factor represents a significant increase from the 7.9 recorded at the time of his appointment, confirming the journal's trajectory of growth and its consolidation as a global reference for research into cardiac arrhythmias.

"This achievement belongs to everyone who works daily to make Europace a benchmark for the international scientific community," stresses Prof. Boriani. "It is the result of teamwork involving arrhythmology experts from all over the world and demonstrates that University Cardiology at the Policlinico of Modena plays a leading role at both European and global levels. Achieving an Impact Factor above 10 in such a specialised field means that the research published in the journal is read, cited, and recognised as highly relevant by the international scientific community."

This prestigious result also reflects Unimore's significant presence in the journal's editorial governance. Alongside Professor Boriani, Dr Marco Vitolo, Dr Jacopo Imberti, and Dr Davide Mei operate as Associate Editors. They are researchers and PhD students at the Department of Biomedical, Metabolic and Neural Sciences, and members of the university cardiology team at the Policlinico of Modena. This presence underscores the prominent role achieved by the Modenese school of cardiology on the international scientific stage.

"I am particularly proud that this journey also involves young researchers from Unimore," Professor Boriani adds. "Seeing colleagues from our University hold key editorial roles in what is now the world’s number one journal in a fundamental sector of cardiology is recognition of work built over time, founded on research quality, international collaboration, and the development of new expertise."

In addition to further consolidating the journal's role as a global benchmark for research into heart rhythm disorders, achieving an Impact Factor above 10 constitutes major recognition of the excellence displayed by the cardiology and research developed within the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
