The CER Bassa Modenese Foundation, an inter-municipal Renewable Energy Community, has appointed three academics from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia as members of its Scientific Committee. Professor Simone Pedrazzi (Department of Engineering Enzo Ferrari) has been appointed Chair of the Committee, while Professor Giulio Allesina (Department of Engineering Enzo Ferrari) and Dr Giulia Santunione (Department of Life Sciences, Unimore) will serve as members.
Renewable Energy Communities represent one of the most significant instruments for promoting the energy transition, encouraging more sustainable, distributed and participatory models of energy production and consumption.
I am deeply honoured and grateful for the trust placed in me with my appointment as Chair of the Scientific Committee of CER Bassa Modenese. The mission of the CERto promote collaboration, innovation and sustainability in energy, social and community projectsrepresents a fundamental opportunity to strengthen cooperation between institutions, businesses and the local area. I thank my fellow committee members and am confident that, together, we will be able to pursue an ambitious project focused on excellence and on the values of service to the community, commented Professor Pedrazzi.
The Scientific Committee is characterised by a multidisciplinary approach, integrating engineering expertise with environmental, botanical and agronomic competencies. This approach will enable scientifically rigorous support for the development of Renewable Energy Communities, with particular attention to environmental and territorial impacts.
Among the most relevant topics are the emerging challenges related to the integration of energy production with agricultural land use, with specific reference to agrivoltaic systemsan area of growing interest for their potential contribution to both energy and agricultural sustainability.
The presence of Unimore academics on the Scientific Committee of the CER Bassa Modenese Foundation confirms the Universitys role as a key scientific reference point supporting institutions and local communities in pathways of innovation and sustainable development.
