Unimore: Pharmacy in Modena – Its First 300 Years

The Pharmacy Area of the Department of Life Sciences at Unimore, on the occasion of the 850th anniversary of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, is organising an event to recount the first three hundred years of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s presence in the city of Modena.

“Voices of Pharmacy” is the first event proposed by the Pharmacy Area of the Department of Life Sciences, which aims to open up to the public through a series of informative and educational evenings.
The event, taking place on Tuesday 22 July at 9:00 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the San Geminiano Complex (Via San Geminiano 3, Modena), will be an opportunity for one of the city’s longest-standing Faculties to meet the public, to take a journey through the past, present, and future of the Pharmacy Area, and to present in an accessible way the research, teaching, and innovation activities that deeply connect it to the local community.

The evening, featuring the participation of lecturers and researchers, will consist of short talks covering:

• the history of the Faculty in Modena and Reggio Emilia, from its origins to the most recent developments;
• current research and projects, with tangible impacts on health, well-being and quality of life;
• future challenges for the professions of Pharmacist and Industrial Pharmacist (Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology – CTF) , in relation to sustainability, pharmaceutical innovation, and personalised medicine.

“‘Voices of Pharmacy’ aims to be an evening of dialogue to celebrate our University and the Pharmaceutical Sciences, which have developed over the years in our region,” says Professor Maria Angela Vandelli, Professor of Pharmaceutical Law, Vice President of the Modena Pharmacists' Association, and speaker at the event.
“The Faculty of Pharmacy and the degree programmes in the pharmaceutical field have always trained professionals who are fully committed to safeguarding public health. This will be an opportunity to bring the academic world closer to the wider community, strengthening the dialogue between science and society, and to celebrate a significant milestone in the history of Unimore and the city of Moden a.”
