Third Edition of the Initiative “From Micro to Macro” Kicks Off from 19 to 22 May

The third edition of the initiative “From Micro to Macro: Turning Experience into Knowledge through the Tools of Science” is set to begin, organised by the Department of Biomedical, Metabolic and Neurosciences at Unimore, in collaboration with the Department of Life Sciences and the Marco Biagi Foundation.

From 19 to 22 May, at the Unimore Campus in via Campi, Modena, the initiative will offer primary school children a unique opportunity to engage with the world of scientific research through multidisciplinary workshops designed to stimulate curiosity and learning. Promoted by Dr Antonietta Vilella, the project will involve young researchers from Unimore who will guide participants on an interactive journey into the microscopic and macroscopic worlds.

Using advanced scientific instruments, the children will be able to observe organisms of various sizes and explore their biological, behavioural and dietary characteristics. This practical and engaging approach will support the development of critical thinking and raise awareness among participants about the importance of biodiversity and the role of organisms in biomedical and environmental research processes.

The main goal of the initiative is to promote scientific culture by offering young people a first experience with the scientific method and an opportunity to reflect on the value of research and biodiversity.

The project is funded by Unimore as part of the 2024 Public Engagement activities.
