The Six PhD Graduates of the 37th Cycle of the Doctoral Programme in Legal Sciences Have Been Proclaimed

The discussion of the doctoral theses and the proclamation ceremony for the PhD candidates of the 37th cycle of the Doctoral Programme in Legal Sciences took place in the Aula Magna of the Department of Law at Unimore. The following candidates successfully completed their studies: Nicola Brignoli (Scientific Disciplinary Sector: Administrative Law), Adriana Ciafardoni (Administrative Law), Rossana Detomi (Labour Law), Federica Raffone (Criminal Law), Benedetta Rossi (Philosophy of Law), and Alessandra Toscano (History of Medieval and Modern Law).
This long-standing Doctoral Programme, promoted by Unimore in agreement with the University of Parma, will be under the exclusive management of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia starting from the next academic cycle.
The Doctoral Programme in Legal Sciences maintains institutional cooperation and exchange agreements with universities and international research bodies, particularly in France and Spain. These agreements offer PhD candidates the opportunity, under specific conditions, to carry out their thesis under joint supervision and thus obtain a dual degreeone in Italy and one in the corresponding foreign country.
The PhD in Legal Sciences was founded with the aim of selecting young talents for academic careers, but also for a wide range of alternative professional paths, from the legal profession to the judiciary, notary public, corporate legal advisory roles, and public administration. For all these career paths, the PhD represents a level of excellence in education, capable of providing significant added value in professional terms, commented Professor Luigi Foffani, Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme.
Career prospects vary depending on each candidates area of specialisation and on activities related to their field of interest. In particular, the teaching of legal sciences aims to train researchers for academic careers, endowed with a solid legal culture and high methodological and critical skills. Activities related to business and contract law are designed to train young researchers with a strong foundation in legal studies, enabling them to study and apply key legal-economic issues within research institutes or manage the more complex legal aspects of corporate life. Moreover, the in-depth study of public law topics provides an advanced, transnational education, particularly valuable for careers in national or EU-level public administration, diplomacy, or journalism.
