Lecture by Prof. Gregory Lip of the University of Liverpool at the Policlinic of Modena

A lectio magistralis by Prof. Gregory Lip of the University of Liverpool on 'Virchow's triad and atrial fibrillation: from pathophysiology to clinical practice, devices and artificial intelligence' has been organised in Modena to mark the start of the Horizon Europe Aristoteles project, coordinated by Prof. Giuseppe Boriani of Unimore, in collaboration with various European centres. The event, open to the public, will be held on Wednesday 21 February at 5 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the Service Centre of the Policlinico di Modena.

Prof. Gregory Lip has been the coordinator, together with Prof. Giuseppe Boriani, of European multicentre registries including the EORP-AF Registry, which has enrolled more than 14,000 patients suffering from atrial fibrillation in Europe in its two recruitment phases, thus making an important contribution to understanding the clinical impact of these arrhythmias and associated comorbidities.

Professor Lip is an eminent researcher in the field of cardiology and his research in recent times has focused on the problem of thrombosis and thromboembolic risk in atrial fibrillation.  In 2022, Professor Lip received an Honorary PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in recognition of the high level and relevance of his scientific production, which includes more than three thousand publications listed on the PubMed database.
