ID22 Beamline, European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Grenoble, France Single crystal X-ray diffraction does not provide information on the bulk material and is not a routinely technique for the determination of microstructural properties. Neither it is used to characterize structural disorder in materials. That’s why powder diffraction can be the most suitable technique to analyze your material.

In this short seminar the use of X-ray powder diffraction at Synchrotron Radiation Facilities will be presented showing: i) the main differences between laboratory and synchrotron source; ii) e application of this technique using different sample- environment devices such as gas-rig, in situ as a function of the pressure and temperature, total scattering for disordered materials.
