The second semester starts on 8 March with face-to-face teaching activities

The second semester officially starts at Unimore on Monday 8 March 2021, with a significant resuming of face-to-face traditional lectures.

The roadmap drawn over the last months by the University corporate bodies is therefore confirmed.

The main points of the restart relate to lectures and laboratory activities, graduation sessions and examinations, and curricular internships.

Starting from the date indicated above, there will be a progressive resuming of face-to-face activities up to 50% of enrolled students for each University campus.

More specifically, traditional lectures will mainly concern first-year students of all Degree Programmes, students of the second and third year of some Degree Programmes, as well as students of all years of study attending job-oriented, laboratory, experience activities, and small groups and curricular interns.

Graduation sessions and examinations will only take place remotely until new provisions, save for the opportunity to take them on-site where the use of specific tools or spaces is provided.

External curricular internships may be held in face-to-face mode, in accordance with the technical and operational instructions set forth in the “Guidelines for the reopening of economic, manufacturing, and recreational activities” approved by the Conference of Regions and Independent Provinces.

“As a University – Unimore Rector, Professor Carlo Adolfo Porro states - we have chosen to face this extremely complex time by taking a clear position since the beginning as to when the various teaching activities would be resumed in face-to-face mode. For this reason, today we are especially grateful to all those people who made it possible to achieve this result through their professional commitment. For obvious reasons of conformity with ministerial provisions, the resuming of traditional lectures, even if gradual and progressive, has been possible also thanks to new spaces, recently finalised, and new rooms made available to the University, places that are part of the city heritage and can host a considerable number of students. The 8 March is also the “International Women’s Day”, a good wish for the new teaching season.”

Since March 2020 until now, building or refurbishing works have continued in the teaching facilities: the most recent opening is the former Archbishop’s Seminary of Reggio Emilia that will be able to host up to two thousand people in the future.

“Our pole Star – Professor Giacomo Cabri, Teaching Activity Delegate continues - is the maximum safety of students and University personnel, and all decisions made from now on by our University will still be in accordance with the provisions on reducing and preventing the infections. Our special thanks go to the professors and technical and administration staff, who made and is still making all efforts to implement all planned activities and our best wishes go to all students for a good start of the second semester.”
