Coronavirus: suspencion of educational face to face activities until 15 March

Following the publication of the Prime Ministerial Decree of 4 March reporting the new measures ordered to fight and curb the spread of COVID-19, in compliance with the decisions taken in accordance with the other Universities of Emilia Romagna and the regional institutions, Unimore has updated the provisions it had previously adopted.

SUSPENSION OF EDUCATIONAL FACE-TO FACE ACTIVITIES AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DISTANCE-LEARNING ACTIVITIES

All face-to-face lectures are suspended until 15 March, including professional and master courses with the sole exception of the “postgraduate courses related to the practice of healthcare professions, including those for doctors undergoing specialised medical training, the courses of specific training in general medical practice, and the activities of healthcare professions trainees”.

In agreement with the University Department Directors, the Presidents of the Degree Programmes, and the full professors for each subject, distance training activities will be implemented.

The relevant departments and degree programmes will communicate how they will be provided.

DEGREE FINAL EXAMINATIONS

The Degree final examination sessions that have already been scheduled for the spring period (until new provisions are given by the relevant healthcare authorities) will take place with the sole presence in the classroom of the Board, which will set up a live audio-video connection with the each single applicant taking the examination.

The Degree Board will be fully present at the University facilities.

The discussion with the applicant will be a live streaming event for all the degrees (three-year and five-year degrees) (NOT face-to-face).

Applicants will be identified by showing their ID and through face recognition on the stream.

The score will be communicated during the live streaming session and confirmed via email.

An online ceremony may take place, although it will not exclude the opportunity of a further ceremony once the state of emergency is be over.

The degree schedules will be published on the Department websites along with the degree session procedures.

Each department will provide applicants with all the contact operating instructions.

A new online procedure for submitting and filing the Degree Theses will be communicated to all graduating students shortly.

As previously communicated, offices have been given more flexible provisions as regards students’ requirements for completing their study programme (e.g.: reduction of the terms for submitting the final degree application to complete the examinations before the final degree session).

PHD EXAMINATIONS

PhD Boards may be set up also with Commissioners connected by electronic means (they do not need to be at the University facilities).

The discussion with the applicant shall be a live streaming event (NOT face-to-face).

Applicants will be identified by showing their ID and through face recognition on the stream.

The score will be communicated during the live streaming session and confirmed via email.

ORAL EXAMINATIONS

Regardless of the high number of students enrolled in the final examination sessions for the various teachings, no face-to-face examinations are permitted.

Therefore, applicants will be examined on a live streaming session.

The examination Board may be set up also with Commissioners connected by electronic means.

Applicants will be identified by showing their ID and through face recognition on the stream.

The score will be communicated during the live streaming session and confirmed via email.

WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS, PRACTICAL TESTS

They are postponed until a later date, unless the distance/online mode is feasible for them.

RECEPTIONS

Students’ reception may be organised by electronic means in agreement with the professors.

LIBRARIES

Libraries will be open to the public for the lending of books, preferably by appointment agreed with the offices or booked through electronic means.

On the other hand, study rooms will not be accessible in order to prevent any gathering of people.

INTERNSHIPS

All curriculum internships of the Degree Programmes belonging to the medical field are permitted

 

Students are recommended to keep monitoring the situation on the department websites, which will be up-to-date with all the news on lessons, examinations, and degree sessions based on the support of communication representatives.
