Spine to nucleus signal in health and disease
Relatrice: prof.ssa Monica Di Luca, del Dipartimento di Scienze Farmacologiche e Biomolecolari dellUniversitą degli studi di Milano.
Abstract:
Among the cellular processes required for modifications of dendritic spines, synapse-to-nucleus communication plays a key role in the regulation of the long-term structural changes correlated to regulation of de novo transcription which grantees protein synthesis. Multiple signalling pathways arising from dendritic spines converge to the nucleus regulating the expression of genes associated with changes of synapto-dendritic inputs. In particular, synapses, dendrites and nuclei are connected by bidirectional communication mechanisms that enable information transfer encoded by macromolecules. The talk will address novel pathways of synapse-to-nucleus communication both in health and disease.
