Unimore presents the Gender Balance as part of the GE&PA Project

The analysis of the budget from a gender perspective is a tool to identify the resources allocated and disbursed to enable the realisation of equal opportunities and to understand and verify the impacts of spending programmes on women and men.

By drawing up a Gender Balance, it is possible to improve awareness of the impact that public policies can have on gender inequalities, to highlight potentially discriminatory practices by promoting greater transparency and to ensure greater effectiveness of interventions. The Emilia-Romagna Region has provided for the drafting of the gender balance in the framework law 6/2014 for equality and combating gender discrimination, reaching its fifth edition in 2023.

Prof. Tindara Addabbo observes that ‘In addition to the territorial experiences, Italian universities, such as Unimore, have progressively equipped themselves with gender budgets, being able to make use of the Guidelines drawn up in 2018 by the National Conference of Equality Bodies of Italian Universities and those proposed by the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI)’.

The topic will be explored in depth during the seminar organised by the Marco Biagi Department of Economics and the Marco Biagi Foundation entitled "Il Bilancio di Genere" (The Gender Balance), to be held on Wednesday 21 June from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Marco Biagi Foundation (Largo Marco Biagi 10, Modena).

The meeting is part of the “GE&PA Project - Gender Equality & Public Administration. Training Programmes for Gender Equality in Public Administration and Territories", coordinated by Prof. Tindara Addabbo and co-funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region, which aims to disseminate skills to make gender equality effective and to define gender policies capable of declining concrete actions to promote equality within public and private institutions. The project, which is strongly interdisciplinary in nature, is composed of a working group that includes, the Department of Economics and the Marco Biagi Foundation, three different Unimore Research Centres - the Interdepartmental Research Centre on Discrimination and Vulnerability (CRID), the Centre for Public Policy Analysis (CAPP) and the Gender, Language and Digital Communication Laboratory (GLIC_D).

The seminar - which will be held in both online and face-to-face modes - will be introduced and coordinated by Prof. Tindara Addabbo, Professor of Economic Policy at the “Marco Biagi” Department of Economics and Rector's Delegate for Equal Opportunities. It will be organised following speeches by Mr Flavio Bruno of the Emilia-Romagna Region's social and socio-educational policies service and Ms Daniela Collesi of the General Budget Inspectorate of the State General Accounting Office, Ministry of Economy and Finance, followed by debate and conclusions.

It will also be possible to follow the proceedings via streaming through the Microsoft Teams platform; to participate in the event, it is necessary to register on  www.progettogepa.unimore.it
