Unimore renews ten-year exchange agreement with Shanghai University delegation

Unimore's Marco Biagi Department of Economics welcomed a delegation from Shanghai University, one of China's most important and prestigious university institutions, with which the Emilian department renewed an exchange agreement for the international mobility of students and researchers.

"The collaboration with Shanghai University has distant roots," explains the initiator of the first agreement Prof. Sergio Paba of Unimore, "in fact, the agreement was signed in 2008 and since then there has been a continuous exchange of students and professors from the economics departments of the two universities, a fruitful development of research projects and training placements.

"The two university institutions - states the Department's Delegate for International Relations, Prof. Elisa Martinelli of Unimore - confirm and at the same time extend the line drawn at the time to continue with a strengthened collaboration both in terms of teaching, envisaging an effective exchange of visiting professors between the two institutions and a renewed interest in Unimore's Master's degree programme in International Management, entirely taught in English, and in terms of research, opening the way to possible joint research projects and co-designed workshop”.

The Chinese delegation was welcomed by the Director of the Marco Biagi Department of Economics Prof. Tommaso Fabbri, the Department's Delegate for International Relations Prof. Elisa Martinelli together with the Department's didactic coordinator, Ms Lara Liverani, and Prof. Sergio Paba, who illustrated the economic and industrial system of Emilia Romagna. The visit from the department in Viale Berengario continued to the Rector's Palace where there was the renewal of the agreement signed by Unimore's Delegate for International Relations Prof. Alessandro Capra and Prof. Yongyou Nie of Shanghai University.

"As a university, we welcomed the delegation from Shanghai University," says Unimore's Delegate for International Relations Prof. Alessandro Capra, "and we are particularly pleased with this visit, which expresses a desire for continuity in relations with Chinese universities. The Covid-19 period and recent political difficulties have made exchanges with this country difficult, but Unimore has never stopped thinking about educational and research collaborations with institutions in this country. The agreement signed in 2008 with the Marco Biagi Department of Economics, which has enabled the mobility of students and researchers for 15 years and whose renewal we are signing, will allow the continuation and hopefully increase the number of these exchanges. We look forward to signing new agreements with other university departments as well”.

The second day of the visit took the delegation to the Scuderia Ferrari in Maranello, and then to the Municipality of Modena, where a meeting was held with the Councillor for Culture, Youth Policies and University City Andrea Bortolamasi, who showed the Oriental guests the “jewel” kept in Piazza Grande, Modena's ancient “Acetaia” (vinegar factory).

During the meeting, Councillor Andrea Bortolamasi emphasised the municipal administration's commitment to "supporting and strengthening opportunities for international cooperation, alongside Unimore, which plays an important role in making Modena more international by welcoming students and researchers from abroad and the resulting exchange opportunities".
